H.R. 1 and What's Coming for Medicaid

How CHWs and CBOs Can Prepare

About the Webinar:

In 2027, Medicaid redeterminations change. States will be required to verify eligibility every six months. Most expansion adults will need to document qualifying work activity to keep their coverage. Analysts project millions of people will lose Medicaid, not because they’re ineligible, but because no one reached them in time. And many of those who will lose coverage are the same clients you serve.

The question for every CHW, doula, and community-based organization is the same: when that happens in your community, will your organization be ready?

This session is a field briefing and a preparation guide. We’ll cover what H.R. 1 actually changes, which populations are most exposed, and what your organization can start doing now, before the redeterminations begin, to make sure the clients you’ve worked to connect to coverage don’t lose it on a technicality.

You’ll Learn

  • What H.R. 1 changes about Medicaid eligibility and the redetermination timeline, in plain language
  • Which populations are most at risk of procedural disenrollment and why
  • What CHWs, doulas, and other community providers can do to help clients navigate renewal before they lose coverage
  • How community-based organizations can build systems to identify at-risk members and document outreach in a way that holds up
  • What health plans need from their community partners,  and how to position your organization as part of the solution
