The companies ready to help CEOs navigate Medicaid cuts

A recent article from Modern Healthcare highlights how startups are pivoting or surging forward in the face of Medicaid changes imposed by the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act”. Among them, Pear Suite shares how the platform and Pear Cares network enable community health workers who provide social services that are considered preventative care in their local communities.

‘There already was a growing trend of investing in social services as a means of preventative care, but Medicaid funding cuts have made those initiatives more appealing.

Insurers view social services, like food and nutrition or housing programs, as a costeffective strategy to stave off acute, costlier health issues, according to Colby Takeda, CEO and cofounder of Pear Suite.

The company is like an Uber of community health workers who provide social services that are considered preventative care in their local communities, Takeda said. Several insurers have partnered with Pear Suite to use its community health network, including Molina Healthcare, Anthem and Health Net, a subsidiary of Centene.

“It’s the communitybased organizations that are best positioned to address these needs and keep their members engaged and enrolled in healthcare services,” Takeda said.’
